Biography:
David Sherrill attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and also studied with the late Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse in Manhattan.In order to make ends meet between school and auditions, Dave took a job in Rockefeller Plaza at then Warner Communications, Inc. where he spent a year and a half as a paid intern at Atlantic Records, Warner Bros. Television and MTV.Soon thereafter, he landed a recurring "under-five" role in the ABC daytime drama, "All My Children." After spending a year on and off on the popular soap opera, he decided to take his career to the next level so he headed back out west to Studio City, California. Upon returning to California, Dave continued his training and education at UCLA.When not studying or performing in local theater, Dave spent much of his time auditioning and hoping for something to happen. He didn't have to wait long because in December 1985 a young Dave Sherrill landed his first ever feature film entitled, "The Wraith". Cast as "...the deranged punk, Skank" Dave soon found himself co-starring with an outstanding group of talented actors that included Charlie Sheen, Nick Cassavetes, Randy Quaid, Sherilyn Fenn and Clint Howard under the direction of Mike Marvin. (Hot Dog, Wishman).Dave's career began to pick up speed when he booked his next role opposite Keanu Reeves in Thom Eberhardt's "The Night Before." Not long after, he found himself in the Israeli desert in Columbia Pictures', "The Beast," with Jason Patric, George Dzundza and Steven Bauer for director, Kevin Reynolds ("Waterworld," " Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves"). Sherrill followed with Warner Bros.', "The Rookie," opposite childhood hero, Clint Eastwood who was also the film's director.Dave appeared primarily in feature films throughout the 90's as well as in a number of network series. He received critical notice for his work in the CBS television movie, "Terror On Highway 91," which also starred Rick Schroeder, George Dzundza, Matt Clark and Lara Flynn Boyle.However, to this day, Dave Sherrill is most widely known and recognized for his memorable and recurring portrayal of homeless war veteran, "Sgt. Jack Canner" in the 90's Fox television series, "Beverly Hills, 90210."Later, he went on to co-star as Ethan Hawks, Gena Rowlands' upwardly mobile son in the Nick Cassavetes scripted and directed "Unhook The Stars" with Marisa Tomei, Gerard Depardieu, Moira Kelly and Jake Lloyd.In 1999 Sherill once again starred along side Charlie Sheen as well as Christopher McDonald in the feature film, "Five Aces". Dave also co-wrote the script and co-produced the popular independent film.His most recent appearances have been on television in ESPN biopic "3: The Dale Earnhardt Story", The CW Network's "One Tree Hill" and NBC's, "Surface" to name a few.In July 2006 Dave completed work on the independent feature film, "The Pigs" and in November '06, wrapped a co-starring role in another independent film entitled, "Three Words And A Star" for director/writer Erica Dunton. Both of which are scheduled to arrive in 2007.
